The Corporation

Balance out your career and life.

Six months' probation in an open-plan office, one day at a time. Two answers a day. Neither is the right one.

Get it on Google Play · Coming to iPhone.

Two answers. Neither is right. A situation card with two choices. Is that a blue pen? Day one, someone is fired over it. The evening is yours: friends, dates, something of your own. Five stars. No raise. The monthly performance review. The day keeps score: the night report. Thirteen achievements. Survive your probation: the title screen.

You are the Junior now.
The chair is still warm.

Each morning somebody walks over to your desk — your manager, Marta from the team that keeps shipping your work, HR with a face you learn to read — and puts a situation in front of you. You get two ways to answer it.

Say yes to everything and your body goes first. Coast and the reviews notice, then HR notices, then a file exists with your name on the tab. The office is keeping score in ways it will never show you.

What you actually do

  • Answer one situation a day, from over a hundred, drawn to fit where your career is.
  • Spend the evening on a date, on friends, on something of your own, or on your phone.
  • Watch five meters you can read and several you cannot.
  • Sit your Friday one-on-one and take the grade.
  • Take the job at the other company, or tear the letter up.

What the office does

  • HR opens a file, writes it up, and closes it again — and tells you, every time.
  • Your manager decides whether you exist this quarter.
  • A reorg arrives. Your salary drifts. Your project goes to somebody else.
  • A firing is never a surprise: the warning comes first.
  • Afterwards the game tells you exactly which part of the score did it.
